Commercial Curb Appeal and Community Spirit: Greater EMC Chamber Hosts First Proud Property Award Ceremony
The Greater EMC Chamber proudly kicked off a new tradition with its first-ever Proud Property Award ceremony—an initiative designed to spotlight local businesses that invest in curb appeal and elevate the look and feel of the community. Four commercial properties each year will be honored for maintaining attractive exteriors, thoughtful landscaping, and inviting signage—small but meaningful efforts that benefit the entire region.
The community rallied for the event, showing their support for the Salons at the Loft as well as for the Proud Property Awards program
The inaugural celebration was especially meaningful thanks to Amy Vollert, owner of Salons at the Loft, the first business to receive the award. Amy’s acceptance speech was heartfelt and full of gratitude. She shared how her parents—the original owners, both present for the ceremony—instilled in her a deep pride in the building and a commitment to maintaining its exceptional appearance. Their family story set the perfect tone for what this award represents: stewardship, pride, and long-term community investment.

Inspired by EMCID’s Façade Improvement Program and its corresponding grant that helps businesses enhance their curb appeal, the Proud Property Awards aim to encourage property owners across the region to follow that same example. Regular building maintenance and consistent care are all part of creating a more welcoming visual environment for residents and visitors alike.
The ceremony at Salons at the Loft offered a warm and memorable experience. Guests were greeted with friendly hospitality, an inviting spread of brunch-style finger foods, and a variety of beverages. Attendees also enjoyed tours of the salon’s impressive, upscale interior—a space that clearly reflects the same level of pride seen on the exterior.

Present for the celebration were representatives from the offices of Congressman Dan Crenshaw and Montgomery County Precinct 4 Commissioner Matt Gray, Community Impact newspapers, Chamber board members, and friends and supporters of the business. Their attendance highlighted broad community support for recognizing and rewarding curb appeal excellence.
The launch of the Proud Property Awards marks a meaningful step in encouraging beautification and stewardship across East Montgomery County. By recognizing businesses that invest in curb appeal, the Chamber hopes to inspire others to keep their properties clean, inviting, and well-maintained. Each quarterly award will showcase examples of excellence that elevate the entire community—creating a ripple effect of pride that benefits residents, visitors, and local businesses alike.
