HCA Houston Healthcare Kingwood recognizes food and nutrition services team during Healthcare Foodservice Workers Week
Behind every patient meal is a dedicated team helping nourish patients and support recovery.

KINGWOOD, Texas (October 9, 2026) —From preparing meals for patients with specialized dietary needs to delivering a comforting meal during a hospital stay, the food and nutrition services team at HCA Houston Healthcare Kingwood plays an important role in the patient care experience. During Healthcare Foodservice Workers Week, the hospital is recognizing the dedicated colleagues who work behind the scenes to help nourish patients and support their recovery.
Every day, the hospital's food and nutrition services colleagues are tasked with preparing meals for patients with a wide range of medical conditions and dietary requirements. Their work involves careful planning, attention to detail and collaboration with registered dietitians and other healthcare professionals to help ensure patients receive meals that align with their individualized care plans.
“Every meal we prepare is an opportunity to make a difference in someone's day,” said Keli Nelson, director of Food and Nutrition Services at HCA Houston Healthcare Kingwood. “Our colleagues understand that food is more than nourishment. It's an important part of the healing process and a way to provide comfort during what can be a difficult time for patients and their families. We take pride in knowing that the work we do behind the scenes contributes to the care our patients receive every day.”
While physicians, nurses and other clinical professionals are often the most visible members of a patient's care team, food and nutrition services colleagues also make meaningful contributions to the hospital experience. From accommodating specialized diets to ensuring meals are prepared and delivered with care, their work helps support the hospital's commitment to individualized, patient-centered care.
Healthcare Foodservice Workers Week is an opportunity to recognize the teamwork, dedication and compassion of these colleagues, whose contributions extend well beyond the hospital kitchen.
Through their daily efforts, the food and nutrition services team at HCA Houston Healthcare Kingwood demonstrates that compassionate care comes in many forms — including the meals served to patients each day.
