Greater EMC Chamber Introduces Member Digital Visibility Review

New member benefit led by Member Data Manager Mark A. Linabury strengthens how Greater EMC members are represented online

NEW CANEY, Texas — The Greater EMC Chamber is introducing a new member benefit designed to strengthen the accuracy and usefulness of the information it publishes about its members.

Led by Mark A. Linabury, Member Data Manager, the new Member Digital Visibility Review goes beyond simply providing members with an online directory listing. Greater EMC will proactively review member profiles and compare key information with current, authoritative public sources to identify potential inaccuracies, inconsistencies and opportunities to improve how members are represented online.

The initiative builds on the significant visibility Greater EMC already provides through its online business directory. In 2025, the Chamber’s website recorded more than 63,000 active users. Chamber member businesses appeared in directory search results more than 822,000 times and received more than 259,000 member profile views.

“Those numbers tell us that our directory is not simply a list of members. People are using it to find and learn about Greater EMC businesses and organizations,” said Mark Linabury, President & CEO. “More than 259,000 member profile views represent a lot of opportunities for someone to learn about one of our members. We want the information they find to represent that member as accurately and effectively as possible.”

Putting Someone Behind the Profile

The Digital Visibility Review formalizes and expands work Mark A has performed as part of his member data responsibilities since joining Greater EMC in 2023.

Each review examines the public information Greater EMC maintains about a member, including business identity, location and contact information, website, business description, categories, supported social media links and the overall completeness and usefulness of the member’s online profile.

Greater EMC then compares that information with authoritative public sources associated with the member.

When Greater EMC identifies information that can be confidently corrected or enhanced, Mark A can make the appropriate update to the member’s Chamber profile. When information conflicts or involves member preference, he will work directly with the member before making a change.

“My job is to help make sure that when someone finds one of our members through Greater EMC, we’re representing that member with accurate and useful information,” Mark A said. “We’re not just putting a profile online and leaving it there. We’re actively paying attention to the information we’re publishing on our members’ behalf.”

More Than a Directory Listing

Greater EMC’s online business directory connects residents, visitors, businesses, newcomers, prospective customers and organizations with Chamber members throughout the year.

That visibility can be particularly valuable for members who may not regularly attend Chamber events but continue to benefit from Greater EMC’s work on their behalf.

The Digital Visibility Review adds active stewardship to that visibility.

It also recognizes that the way people discover businesses is changing. Search engines and emerging AI-powered tools increasingly rely on information available from trusted online sources to understand businesses, organizations, locations and services.

Greater EMC cannot control how outside platforms rank, summarize or recommend a member. The Chamber can, however, work to ensure the information it publishes is accurate, useful and authoritative.

“The member owns their digital presence, but Greater EMC takes responsibility for the quality of the member information we publish,” Mark Linabury said. “We cannot control every place a business appears online, but we can make sure we’re doing our part.”

A Proactive Member Benefit

New members will receive a Digital Visibility Review after their public Chamber profiles are established, and Greater EMC will continue reviewing member profiles throughout the membership relationship.

The goal is not to make every Chamber profile identical to information found elsewhere online. Businesses may have multiple locations, service areas, different public contact preferences or other circumstances that require context.

Instead, the review is designed to identify meaningful issues and opportunities that can improve how effectively Greater EMC represents each member.

The launch also coincides with Mark A’s third anniversary with Greater EMC.

“Mark A has spent the past several years working with our member data and understanding how our members are represented through the Chamber,” Mark Linabury said. “This turns that experience into an even more intentional member service. There is a real person behind this benefit who is looking out for the quality of the information we’re putting in front of the public.”

Working on Members’ Behalf

Your Greater EMC Chamber membership includes more than an online directory listing. We actively review the information we publish about your business to help ensure customers, search engines and AI-powered tools have access to accurate, useful information about who you are, what you do and how to find you.

For members, that means Greater EMC is not simply providing another place for their business to appear online. The Chamber is actively working to make that presence better.

“It’s another example of what we mean when we talk about working on behalf of our members,” Mark Linabury said. “A member does not have to be at an event or sitting in a Chamber meeting for us to be working for them. Sometimes that work is happening quietly in the background, making sure we’re representing them well.”
