The Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) is a regional planning organization made up of elected officials from counties and cities across the greater Houston and Galveston region. It helps local governments work together on shared challenges like transportation planning, economic development, environmental quality, and disaster preparedness. H-GAC also manages federal and state funding programs and provides data and technical support to help communities plan and deliver regional projects.
One of the ways H-GAC supports the workforce system is by serving as the fiscal and administrative lead for the Gulf Coast Workforce Board. In that role, H-GAC oversees funding and compliance, supports planning and performance reporting, and helps guide investments in job training, employer services, and workforce initiatives that connect employers with skilled workers across the region.
