About Us

Brett Ligon was elected on May 2, 2026, to serve as Senator for Texas’ Senate District 4, which includes Montgomery, Harris, Chambers, Jefferson, and Galveston counties. Senate District 4 is one of the fastest-growing and most economically significant regions in Texas.

Prior to his election to the Texas Senate, Ligon served for 17 years as Montgomery County District Attorney, where he earned a reputation as a principled conservative leader dedicated to upholding the rule of law. Guided by the motto, “Let justice be done though the heavens fall,” he never wavered in his mission to protect Texans and deliver justice without compromise. Born in Texas and raised in Montgomery County, his commitment to public service was shaped early by his stepfather, a police officer, and inspired by generations of Texans who stood courageously for their communities and values.

Ligon earned a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University and a law degree from South Texas College of Law. His career in criminal justice includes service as an Assistant District Attorney in Harris County and as counsel for the Houston Police Officers’ Union before being elected District Attorney in 2008.

As District Attorney, Ligon built one of the most respected prosecutor’s offices in Texas. He created specialized divisions focused on public corruption, child exploitation, human trafficking, domestic violence, and major crimes. He implemented numerous innovations, including a 24/7 on-call prosecutor system, a digital forensics unit, and one of the state’s earliest Veterans Treatment Courts.
