OPERATIONS DIRECTOR - JOB DESCRIPTION


General Job Description:

  • Newly created position for the purpose of preparing this Director to assume the duties of Executive Director.

  • Gain an understanding of Mission Northeast daily operations and special events

  • Evaluate and implement and/or revise daily operations and special events

  • Represent Mission NE in the community

  • Have excellent written and verbal skills in order to communicate to the public on behalf of Mission NE

  • Be knowledgeable about Mission programs and services

  • Reports to Executive Director/works closely with Client Services Director

 
Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Be proactive in the growth of Mission Northeast in terms of building programs, funding sources, and networking

  • Work directly with warehouse coordinator as needed for daily and special projects and/or delegate those responsibilities to another staff member

  • Build positive work relationships with all volunteers, staff, and clients

  • Be proactive and prepared to represent Mission at outside events and engagements (churches, community organizations, etc.), as well as with potential donors.  This may include Mission tours for interested parties.

  • Attend Mission Northeast Board meetings as Executive Director, no voting privileges

 
Administrative:

  • Possess excellent writing and communication skills–excellent spelling, grammar, and ability to interact with others are essential

  • Grant writing and monitoring

  • Supervisory experience a plus—Volunteer Coordinator (paid) and Warehouse Coordinator (volunteer) are direct reports to this position

  
Special Events:

  • Coordinate holidays:  work with Client Services Director, Volunteer Coordinator, and Warehouse Coordinator

  • Coordinate with staff – annual Volunteer luncheon – April each year

  • Annual fundraising luncheon—currently the end of September

Other:
  • Visionary and self-starter

  • Professional appearance and demeanor

  • College degree preferred

  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, Power Point

  • Volunteer/team experience a plus

  • Community outreach experience a plus

  • Bilingual a plus

Schedule:

  • Monday -- 8:00 – 11:30 (flexible)

  • Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday – 7:45 – 3 (flexible)

  • Mission Northeast is closed Thanksgiving week and 2 weeks for Christmas holidays, before Christmas until the first work day after Jan. 1

  • Mission Northeast is closed on Fridays and weekends
