Commissioner Matt Gray is a proud lifelong resident of East Montgomery County. As a graduate of New Caney High School, he earned his undergraduate degree in business administration from Sam Houston State University, his master’s degree in construction science from Texas State, and his Project Management Professional accreditations through U of H & the Project Management Institute.

Before taking office as County Commissioner, he enjoyed a very successful career in Oil & Gas, where he planned & executed multinational capital projects and managed day-to-day operations.

Commissioner Gray brings his education and private sector experience to the table every day: managing rapid growth, protecting the county budget, maintaining our roads and drainage, lowering taxes, and putting an end to wasteful spending.

In his nearly 4 years of service as your Precinct 4 Commissioner, Matt Gray has made an extraordinary impact on our community, setting a new standard for leadership, innovation, and service.

He is both visionary and results driven. Through his relentless pursuit of funding opportunities, Precinct 4 has applied for over $100 million in grant funding. These grant dollars are transforming our infrastructure and ensuring taxpayer dollars are maximized to their fullest potential.

At his core, he is a devoted family man. Commissioner Gray and his wife, Amanda, have four children. You will often see him at the ballpark coaching Little League or in the gym coaching youth basketball.

An 8th generation Texan and lifelong resident of East Montgomery County, he is deeply invested in the future of this community.
