Service, Community, and Connection: April Chamber Luncheon Highlights

The Greater East Montgomery County Chamber welcomed members and guests to its April Monthly Luncheon at the Atrium Center, where business and community leaders gathered for an engaging afternoon centered on service, connection, and community resources. Presented by The Highlands, a Caldwell Community, the luncheon reflected the Chamber’s ongoing commitment to supporting local businesses while fostering meaningful relationships across the region.
A Warm Welcome and Elevated Dining Experience
Guests were greeted by Chamber Diplomats and welcomed into a lively networking environment as passed appetizers from G&G’s Catering and Desserts circulated throughout the room. The menu offered a diverse and flavorful experience, including deep-fried empanadas with a variety of fillings and coconut shrimp served with sweet chili sauce.

The meal continued with a fresh fruit and walnut salad, followed by hearty entrée selections such as braised brisket and lemon herb roasted chicken. Sides included parsley white rice, grilled vegetables, and fresh dinner rolls. Guests also enjoyed a decadent dessert station featuring triple chocolate mousse cake, bourbon vanilla glaze bread pudding, and assorted cheesecake bites, along with a selection of refreshing beverages.

Recognizing Leadership and Community Partners
The program began with the pledges led by Board Chair Heather Ramsey of the San Jacinto River Authority. The Chamber then recognized its presenting sponsor, The Highlands, a Caldwell Community, with representatives Drew Stewart and Tess Farrand sharing remarks about their continued investment in the region and support of the Chamber’s mission.

The CenterPrize Sponsor, the New Caney Splendora Houston Metro Go Texas Committee, was also highlighted for its contributions and promotion of regional engagement.

Chamber leadership took time to recognize and welcome new members, including EfTA – Education for Tomorrow Alliance, Amtex Overhead Doors, Very Good Pressure Washing and Cleaning, ALS Blinds, Yonutz! Kingwood, McCoy’s Building Supply New Caney, Arrow Exterminators, Texas PHYSIO Physical Therapy and Wellness – Porter, Kingwood Skin Essentials Med Spa, Preserve at Woodridge, and Sparrow Overhead Doors.

A Conversation on Service and Accessibility
The luncheon’s keynote speaker, Texas State Representative Janis Holt of District 18, delivered an informative and approachable presentation that resonated with attendees. Sharing her personal story and local upbringing, Representative Holt spoke about the values that guide her work and her commitment to serving the people of her district.

She offered insight into what it is like working alongside fellow legislators while emphasizing the importance of collaboration and communication. A key focus of her message was accessibility—encouraging attendees to reach out to her office and other state resources for assistance with essential services such as Medicaid, driver’s licenses, professional licensing, and child support.
Representative Holt also invited attendees to become more engaged in the legislative process by visiting the State Capitol in Austin, noting that her office is available to help coordinate and support those interested in planning a trip.
Strengthening Community Through Engagement
From meaningful networking to valuable insights on accessing state resources, the April luncheon highlighted the power of connection and the importance of staying engaged at both the local and state levels. Events like these continue to strengthen the Chamber’s role in bringing people together and supporting a thriving business community.
