On Friday, August 15, nearly 20 Chamber members and volunteers, known as Bobbi’s Angels, spent a rewarding morning giving back at the Montgomery County Food Bank in Conroe. This special day was part of our quarterly tradition of selecting a nonprofit Chamber member who could use the support of Bobbi’s Angels to lift their mission. The program honors the legacy of former Chamber Director of Operations, Bobbi Bodenhamer, whose heart for service continues to inspire us.

The Food Bank’s newly constructed addition served as the perfect setting for our morning of service. Upon arrival, our group was greeted warmly by the staff—and we were thrilled to see the Greater EMC Chamber logo displayed on the welcome monitor in the reception area. We were then ushered into a beautiful new community room, where President and CEO Kristine Marlow and Volunteer Services Manager Michelle Mitchell shared a powerful overview of the Food Bank’s mission. Their words not only gave us insight into the realities of food insecurity in Montgomery County but also reminded us how our efforts that day would directly impact families in need.

Fired up and ready to serve, our volunteers headed into the Produce Rescue Center—a refrigerated warehouse where fresh foods are stored, sorted, and packaged for distribution. After receiving clear instructions, our team split into four groups, each with a different role to play. With upbeat music in the background and guidance from on-site volunteer leaders, the work was both efficient and fun.

Over the course of nearly two hours, our Bobbi’s Angels made an incredible impact, collectively packaging more than 900 pounds of fresh food for distribution across the community. The energy in the room was high, and the sense of purpose was even higher.

At the end of the morning, we left with full hearts, knowing that our time and teamwork directly helped the Montgomery County Food Bank in its mission to fight hunger and feed hope. Opportunities like this not only allow us to honor Bobbi’s memory but also demonstrate the power of businesses and individuals working together to serve others.
