There is a lot happening this week in the Greater EMC Chamber, and that is a very good thing.

Before anything else, it is worth pausing to recognize what makes all of this possible. Our chamber is now powered by 560+ members. That means 560+ businesses, leaders, ideas, and people investing in something bigger than themselves. It is a growing network full of energy, momentum, and yes, probably a group chat nobody wants to manage.

Jokes aside, that support fuels everything. Every event, every connection, every welcome, and every opportunity to strengthen the business community comes from members choosing to be part of it. That is what helps this community keep growing and thriving.

A Busy Thursday for the Greater EMC Chamber

Thursday is packed with opportunities to show up, connect, and support fellow businesses in the community. If you are looking for meaningful ways to stay involved, this is one of those days to circle on the calendar.

Start the Day with a Ribbon Cutting for McCoy’s Building Supply

The first stop is a special welcome for McCoy’s Building Supply.

  • Event: Ribbon Cutting
  • Time: 11:30 a.m.
  • Location: New location off 242 in New Caney

Ribbon cuttings are more than ceremonial. They are a chance to show support for a business that has chosen to invest in the area. They also help create those first strong introductions between a new member and the wider chamber community.

If you can make it, come help start the day by giving McCoy’s Building Supply a warm chamber welcome.

Then Keep the Momentum Going at Traveling Thirsty Thursday

After the ribbon cutting, there is a little time to get back to work, catch up on emails, return a few calls, and then head right back out for an afternoon of networking.

Traveling Thirsty Thursday, presented by Porter Insurance, begins later that day and is designed to bring members together in a relaxed, social setting.

  • Event: Traveling Thirsty Thursday
  • Presented by: Porter Insurance
  • Time: 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
  • Location: VFW Post 4816 in Porter

Expect light bites, drinks, and plenty of networking as the day rolls into the evening. These events matter because business relationships are often built in the spaces between formal meetings. A casual conversation can lead to a referral, a partnership, a new client, or simply a stronger sense of community.

How to Make the Most of the Event

If you are heading to Traveling Thirsty Thursday, come prepared to connect.

  • Bring a friend. Introducing someone new to the chamber community helps everyone grow.
  • Bring business cards. They are not just useful for networking. They also make you eligible to win a $100 gift card.
  • Be ready to mingle. This is one of those easy, approachable chamber events where conversations happen naturally.

The gift card drawing is made possible by Porter Insurance Agency, which adds one more reason to make sure your business cards are with you when you arrive.

Why Staying Connected Matters Right Now

We are almost halfway through the year, and the pace is only picking up. As the calendar fills up, it becomes even more important to stay connected to chamber updates, member news, and upcoming opportunities.

That is how businesses stay visible. It is how members stay informed. And it is how a growing chamber remains a vibrant and engaged business community instead of just a list of names.

If you want to keep up with everything happening, make it a habit to check these key resources:

  • Tyler’s Monday newsletters for regular updates
  • The chamber website for membership information and event details
  • GEMCchamber.com for the latest chamber news and resources

More Than Business

One of the best things about the Greater EMC Chamber is that it is not just about doing business in the community. It is about being part of the business community.

That mindset shows up in weeks like this one. We celebrate member milestones. We create room for networking. We support new businesses. We help relationships grow. And we keep building a chamber that people want to be part of.

With 560+ members and the year getting busier by the week, there is clearly a lot of momentum here. The best way to benefit from it is simple: stay involved, show up when you can, and keep those connections going.
