If you plan to travel next year, make sure you're Real ID Compliant
As another quick update for travelers, we want everyone to know that on May 3, 2023, the REAL ID Act, passed by Congress in 2005, will go into effect. The REAL ID Act require all states to adhere to minimum security standards in order to make all IDs more consistent and secure. Starting in May of 2023, everyone will need a REAL ID to access the following places:
Certain federal facilities
Airports: Boarding federally regulated commercial aircraft
What is a REAL ID?
REAL IDs will have a black or gold star in the top corner of the ID. If you have renewed your driver's license in the past couple of years, you probably already have the REAL ID star on your license. f the card does not have one of these black or gold stars in the top corner, it is not REAL ID-compliant and won’t be accepted as proof of identity to board commercial aircraft.
Things to consider (why its good to have a travel advisor to assist you)
- If you plan on flying after May 3, 2023…(next Memorial Day weekend, Forth of July) make sure that you are aware that you will have to REAL ID compliant to travel.
- At this time, cruise lines are not requiring you to have a REAL ID, however, if you must fly at any point during your travels, you will need it.
