DESCRIPTION:The Honor Our Veterans Lunch\n\n\n\nGuest Speaker\n\nJudge Jimmie C. Edwards III\n\nUSMC Ret.\n\nChairman - Montgomery County Veterans Memorial Commission\n\n \n\nJimmie C. Edwards III is a lifelong resident of Montgomery County. He graduated from Conroe High School\, class of '66\, after attending Capitol Page School at the Library of Congress. In 1969\, while attending the University of Maryland he volunteered for the United States Marine Corps.\n\n \n\nWhile serving with Lima Company/ 3rd Battalion/ 5thRegiment/ 1st Marine Division\, Lance Corporal Edwards was gravely wounded. While in the DaNang Naval Hospital\, Lance Corporal Edwards was promoted to Corporal\, awarded the Purple Heart\, the Bronze Star Medal with V (Valor)\, and other citations for bravery and distinguished service.\n\n \n\nEdwards then returned to Conroe\, Texas and earned his degree in political science from Sam Houston State University. He ran successfully for the Texas House of Representatives in 1972\, representing both Montgomery and Walker Counties. Jimmie was subsequently elected to the office of Montgomery County Judge in 1982.\n\n \n\nJimmie lives with his wife\, Debbie\, in Cut and Shoot\, Texas. They have two daughters\, Rachael Edwards Threadgill and Sarah Edwards\, as well as two granddaughters Shelby and Jamie Threadgill.\n\n \n\nJimmie continues his service to his country and Montgomery County by serving as Chairman of the Montgomery County Veterans Memorial Commission.
